As far as original T171 content goes, there really isn't much.
I used to have a review of the 'Web Wizards' exhibition but I decided
to ditch it because it was ancient history and besides the pictures
on it were absolutely horrendous. They were taken with my old digital
camera which had no flash... Well, you can imagine! All that's left,
then, is Capitalist's Corner, which
is a brief intro to business studies. I wrote it as a capsule summary
of B200 for students who were daunted by the content of 'Blown to
Bits'. It's just my take on the subject and isn't intended to replace
reading of the book of course! You'll just have to endure that yourself
(But see 'Audible' section down near the bottom if you're desperate
for a short cut!)

Commercial Break: Power Without Responsibility
I was lucky enough, recently, to get a preview of three chapters
of the new edition of Power
Without Responsibility by James Curran. They were the sections
on the internet and new media. I thought it was really interesting
as a sort of counterpoint to the material in T171 in particular.
It approaches the subject from a whole different perspective, within
the context of general media studies. Cringely it ain't! I'd recommend
it to anyone who's interested in a different perspective on the
development of the web.
By the time you read this you can probably get it on Amazon, but
make sure you get the latest edition (Published July 2003)

T171 Audible Goodies
My favourite online service. They produce
electronic audio books for download. They have loads of good stuff
for T171 students. I've had to use affiliate links because it was
the only way of linking to individual titles (because of the way
the java server pages work). I don't particularly like doing that
but that's the way the ball bounces. Clicking
on this link will take you to a list of useful titles by course.
Each one uses a session cookie for the transition. Personally, I
think their use of cookies is responsible and respectful of privacy,
but I know there's a certain amount of paranoia about, so if you
disagree with their privacy
policy, best leave it alone.
