"The bigger my toothy grin is, the smaller my troubles grow.
"The louder I say I'm happy, the more I believe it's so." Patience
and Prudence
I've been trying to be more optimistic of late. My current policy
of sighing wearily on 83% of all occasions and frowning on the
remaining 17% can only be changed by intense exposure to lovely
things. What use is the careworn scowl, the jaded outlook?
So the earth is overcrowded and overheated. What of it?
So, people are mostly selfish and stupid. What is that to me?
And if science and education are everywhere supplanted by propaganda,
superstition and hysteria, is that any cause for concern?
Constant viewing of this page has enabled me to forget the woes
of the world. I am, to use Susan Jeffer's phrase, "Saying
Yes to my Universe". I'm OK and you're OK. I am, in short,
getting in touch with my Inner American. Somehow it almost seems
possible that the world can be made safe through superior military
force imposing democracy on grateful brown people.
As the world spirals ever further into chaos and fear, the internet
will be a vital source of reassurance in the form of cheerful
animated gifs and midi sound files. This page will be at the forefront
of that healing force. Relax. Stroke the screen. Feel the healing
waves of joy play over you like a warm tongue.
Here there are only happy things.
You are safe here.
Say it again. Safe. You are safe here.
(Nuff
respect to Hilma Miles for being
the only person who actually liked the first version of this page
enough to bookmark the bloody thing. Sorry I couldn't do the viagra
and aspirin flavours...)
The guy on the left there is Numfar of the Deathwok Clan doing the
Dance of Joy.
