You've probably heard of the recent trend towards 'humane' pest
control by dosing cheese with ecstasy and letting the mice rave
themselves to death. The proponents of this method defend it as
less painful than the trap and more enjoyable than conventional
poisons. This is all very well and good, of course, but as Rachel
Carson has told us in her book 'The Silent Spring', toxins at one
level of the food chain are passed on to the next level as predators
eat the prey and are affected in turn. This cat has dined upon the
bodies of over a dozen of these raving mice and as you can see,
it has become affected by what the tabloids like to call a 'lethal
cocktail' of mice and drugs.Let this be a warning to all cat owners.
If you really want to choose an alternative method of controlling
vermin in your house, do what I do - shoot them with a crossbow.
No cats were harmed in making this warning. In fact, she rather
enjoyed it.
